Pre-Purchase Inspection Inclusions

For Small petrol engine cars, we would recommend a Standard Inspection or Standard Inspection with Add Ons, for larger SUVS and utilities with Diesel powered engines we would also recommend the Diesel Add Ons. A computer and electronics system scan is performed on all inspections, we use the latest Snap On scanner that checks all systems in the vehicle including Airbags and Anti-Lock Braking systems and tell us of any issues that may be present or have been in the past, unfortunately if the vehicle has been recently scanned and all codes cleared we may not be able to detect issues.

(1) Road testing is an important part of the inspection, and our experienced Mechanics can detect many current or potential issues including transmission, clutch, bearings, wheel alignment, noises etc. Vehicles will need to be registered and insured so we can road test safely.

(2) Engine sludge is oil that has not been changed regularly and has turned into a solid crusty type build up inside the engine. Engine oil should be

changed as per manufacturer recommendations, generally 10,000-15,000 Kilometres.

(3) Where possible we will check the Transmission fluid, Automatic transmissions often require specialty equipment to check the fluid and in these cases we cannot check the fluid, we would however highly recommend a transmission service after purchase (If required).

(4) Timing belts are toothed belts that time the engine and should be changed at manufacturers recommended intervals, generally every 100,000

kilometres but can vary lower or higher. Timing belts can break if not replaced and in most cases engine damage will occur should the timing belt break or skip teeth. If the history of replacement is unknown by the current owner we highly recommend having the belt replaced after purchase.

(5) The coolant and brake fluid tests will give us the current condition of these fluids and will determine replacement interval.

(6) This very important report will give us a history of accidents (if claimed by insurance) and if any money is owing on the vehicle.

(7) This will be dependent on the vehicles computer system as to whether we can check for the amount of soot load in the DPF and the amount of wear on the injectors.

We recommend the inspection be performed at our workshop for a more thorough check as we are able to use hoists but onsite is of course completely

fine (Surcharge applies). If performed at our workshop sometimes the current owner will drive the vehicle to us or they may let the potential buyer drive it without them present, either way is fine for us, and the report will be given only to the potential buyer or the person paying for inspection.

We do not offer engine compression tests, removing spark plugs and ignition coils or leads can cause damage and some engines are very difficult to access spark plugs.

Standard inspection (Mobile or at our workshop)

1) Inspect paintwork (visual) for damage and possible previous repairs.

2) Check operation of Air conditioning and heater.

3) Check all seats for correct operation.

4) Check all lights, washers, wipers and horn.

5) Complete computer Scan of vehicle with printed report.

9) Check engine (from top) for oil leaks.

10) Check engine for sludge build up (as best as possible) (2)

11) Check for coolant leaks.

12) Inspect underneath vehicle for corrosion and rust.

13) Inspect driveshafts and universal joint (if applicable).

14) Inspect C.V shafts and boots for damage (if applicable).

15) Inspect engine mounts for damage and sag.

16) Check suspension for leaks, damage and performance.

17) Check brakes (visual check with wheels on) for wear and leaks.

18) Check brake lines.

19) Check coolant level. (visual)

20) Check brake fluid. (visual)

21) Check underbody for corrosion, rust and damage.

29) Check Transmission fluid (3)

30) Check the drive belts and pulleys for noise and wear.

31) Check timing belt history (if known by owner) (4)

32) Check for presence of sand under vehicle (if applicable).

Standard Plus inspection.

All checks as per Standard inspection with following Add Ons

1) Check coolant for Glycol content. (5)

2) Check Brake fluid for moisture content. (5)

3) Emailed report on accident and finance owing history (6)

4) Paint depth check (will show paint respray history)

5) Measure vehicle height for suspension sag

6) Check coolant Glycol percentage

Recommended Add Ons for Diesel vehicles.

Modern Diesel vehicles can have problems with DPF exhausts blocking, injectors wearing, E.G.R systems not functioning properly and inlet manifold blocking. Each one of these items can cost many hundreds to thousands of dollars to replace or clean, we can as best as possible check with our scanner for DPF soot percentage load and electronic injector wear (7) and visually (sometimes by removing some small items) these items for current condition and longevity. We do not perform Diesel compression tests.

Costs.

Standard Inspection at our workshop $160.00.

Standard inspection Mobile $219.00.

Standard Plus inspection $180.00.

Standard Plus Mobile $239.00.

Diesel Add Ons $65.00.

Minimum inspection is Standard Inspection.
